  • Colonel Richard E. Lochner, USMC (Ret.)

He received his BBA in accounting from the University of Notre Dame in 1961, prior to joining the Marine Corps. During his almost 30-year career, he held a wide variety of related business, management, and leadership assignments, which included earning an MA in Human Resources Management from Pepperdine University in 1976. His military background and civilian experience since retiring have given him a unique perspective, which he shares here with his readers.

Upon retirement from the Marine Corps, he worked for the 100th Congress as the Administrative Assistant/Chief of Staff to the Congressman from Guam (The Honorable Ben Blaz) before joining Atlantic Research Corporation as an acquisition consultant both in the United States and in England. Following five years in this assignment, a “permanent” retirement was sought in South Bend, Indiana, where he enjoyed a reunion with his family and alma mater. But this was quickly changed as he was asked to come out of “retirement” and be a Parish Business Manager. Since 2011, his retirement is “permanent” and he and his wife Virginia of 54 years live in Pearland, Texas where he reads, writes, and golfs.
